His father served on the Cook County, Illinois School Board. His mother was the longtime tax collector in Sarasota, as well as the president of the Sarasota League of Women Voters. And Larry has spent over 25 years in the Public Defender's Office, keeping us safe and protecting our communities.

Now, after rising through the ranks and becoming the top administrator in the Manatee County office, Larry Eger is running for Public Defender of the 12th Judicial Circuit.

Larry Eger has the experience to lead, currently managing over 20 attorneys and 40 total employees, one of the largest law offices in the region. Tireless and extremely organized, he is an efficient manager and dedicated steward of your tax dollars and the Public Defender's office. He understands what a critical role the Public Defender's office plays in the criminal justice system and, as our Public Defender, Larry will work with the Sheriffs' Offices, the State's Attorney's Office, and the local County Commissions to make sure that our community is as safe as possible.

For Larry Eger, being Public Defender will be a continuation of his lifetime commitment to public service. From founding a charter school in all-night sessions around his dining room table with other concerned parents, to serving as its president since 2002, to coaching youth basketball, and serving on the Manatee County Safety Commission, Larry Eger has always found time to give back to his community.
